A 'Stranger Things' Animated Show Is In The Works At Netflix

“We’ve always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling.”

Coming straight from the creators of Stranger Things, The Duffer brothers have announced that an animated series is in the works. The new series will serve as a companion to the live-action version, exploring new stories and expanding the Stranger Things universe.

From what I've gathered, the animated series will aim to capture the same nostalgic 80s vibe and supernatural elements that fans love about the hit Netflix series. It will likely (hopefully) feature the D&D loving group of friends—Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Eleven—along with other beloved characters introduced throughout the series' current four season run.

A Stranger Things animated series is definitely a new avenue for the series to venture down, and a good idea given the growing amount of time between seasons. An animated show will allow for more flexibility in the series' storytelling, with the possibility of exploring other dimensions, time periods, and origin stories for even the most minor of Stranger Things characters. While plot details remain under wraps, for know, fans can look forward to new adventures, unexpected twists, and perhaps even delving deeper into the Upside Down.

The Duffer Bros' Upside Down Pictures will produce the new animated series along with Flying Bark and 21 Laps. Given the popularity of Stranger Things, the animated series is likely to generate a lot of anticipation and speculation among fans. Netflix has yet to announce an official release date, but keep an eye out for further updates and announcements as they unveil more information about this exciting addition to the Stranger Things universe.
