According to Deadline, Spyglass Media Group with the help of David S. Goyer will reboot the 1987 horror bloodbath Hellraiser, and rather quickly from what's being reported.
Spyglass will oversee the project through development with Goyer producing and writing the reimagined tale of sadomasochism, Cenobites and a small family.
David S. Goyer, whose fame stems from his work in the Blade series as well as Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, had this to say about his involvement. "I’ve been a fan of Clive’s work since the original Books of Blood paperbacks and The Hellbound Heart novella. Having the chance to reimagine Pinhead and the Cenobites for a new audience is a nightmare-come-true."
Spawning from the 1986 novella, The Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker, the Hellraiser series has created ten films under its flagship, four of which saw theatrical releases. When adjusted for inflation, the first four films alone racked up more than $100 million at the box office. Due to the success of reboots and reimaginings in the past, most recently Andy Muschietti's IT and David Gordon Green's Halloween, Hellraiser should have no problem fitting in and finding an audience of both old and new fans.
