Writer's picture: Eric J. CullenEric J. Cullen

Hey there, horror fans and welcome back! It's good to see you here today and hanging out with Horror Junket, even if it's for a moment. It's the start of a beautiful new week in horror and that means it's time for another Horrific Recap. Again, thank you for dropping by the site today because as always I am excited to get a few horror tidbits to you, even if they are a week old. If you're new, or if you haven't done so already, go ahead and grab your pillow tight—a little tighter now, because things are about to take a turn for the scary, as we recap last week's spookiest horror news.

Sunday - August 1

Tickets are now available for one of California's spookiest events of the year, presented by the Winchester Mystery House.

All Hallows' Eve is a brand new seasonal event offered by the Winchester Mystery House for the Halloween holiday. The spooky festivities take place on select nights, starting in September and going until the spookiest day of the year. The All Hallows’ Eve event will feature a new tour called Lost In The House Tour, a paranormal investigative adventure that may, or may not, divulge all the secrets inside the house. Uncovering those secrets is up to you.

Families not looking to think too hard, or have the smaller ones in tow may want to check out the family-friendly Jack O’ Lantern Trail, which will take place in the Victorian Gardens of the historical mystery mansion. All Hallows' Eve, presented by the Winchester Mystery House is sure to be a hit for the upcoming spooky season, so don't miss out. Tickets can be purchased, here.

Monday - August 2

More horror figures come your way, this time from Rob Zombie's directorial debut House of 1000 Corpses.

Four more figures have been announced during the Trick Or Treat Streaming Event at Comic-Con, which means Sid Haig's Captain Spaulding action figure—which is set to arrive later this year in November—will be followed by the release of his hellbilly friends and family. Otis, Baby Firefly, The Professor, and Doctor Satan will be given the action figure treatment, the figures not yet available for pre-order but set to release next year.

Tuesday - August 3

It seems Universal Pictures is more focused on the side characters from some of Hollywood's biggest names in horror, and Dracula's crazed assistant R. M. Renfield, is the latest to get some attention.

Nicholas Hoult will star in Universal’s Dracula spinoff film Renfield, a film that will be based on the insane asylum patient that falls under the spell of Dracula. Not much is known about the plot of the film but we do know Chris McKay will direct the film written by Ryan Ridley, based off an original story outline from Robert Kirkman. Will this film tie in with other Universal Monster films in production? I couldn't say.

Wednesday - August 4

Another Scream film is on track for a debut next year but before that happens, why not revisit the film that started it all—in 4K UHD.

Coming in October and just before the spookiest holiday of them all, the 25th Anniversary Edition of Scream will be available on 4K UHD. The release will include new features and bonus content such as, A Bloody Legacy: Scream 25 Years Later, an archival behind-the-scenes featurette that will include new interviews with the film's stars.

The 4K UHD release will also include audio commentary with the two men that started it all, Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson, along with other content to make this edition of Scream, worth adding to the collection. Pick up the 25th Anniversary Edition of Scream, available later this year on October 19.

Thursday - August 5

Lionsgate Entertainment and Scream Queen Danielle Harris come together for Las Vegas' latest horror attraction, Escape Blair Witch. The short video is directed by Harris and gives viewers a sneak peek at a new kind of horror in Sin City.

A new escape experience that is heavily based on The Blair Witch films, Escape Blair Witch is available to attempt on most any day but Monday and Tuesday, given you make a reservation first.

Should you find yourself in Vegas anytime soon be sure to check out the Escape Blair Witch attraction. Why spend time in the Vegas heat, when you can be scared but cool while experiencing some Blair Witch mayhem. Tickets and reservations can be made, here.

Friday - August 6

Blacula will soon get the graphic novel treatment with three new books on the way for debut in 2022.

Having secured the rights from MGM, writer Rodney Barnes and artist Jason Shawn Alexander will bring Blacula back for a new trilogy, that will put our African Prince of Darkness in the present day with Dracula as his enemy.

Plot details remain very guarded at the moment but any fan of William Marshall or the 1970's Blacula films, will surely want to check out this new trilogy and see what's in store for Blacula next year.

Saturday - August 7

Luis Guzmán is Gomez Addams in the upcoming series Wednesday from Netflix and Tim Burton.

Guzmán will join Jenna Ortega in the new series that will follow Ortega's Wednesday Addams, as she navigates school, life and her family.

No news yet on who will round out the rest of the family but that news is more than likely on the near horizon as production moves forward with Wednesday.

Well that wraps up this week of horror, I hope it wasn't too frightening for you. It looks like we have some good horror on the way in the next couple months and into the next year. As the news breaks, you might be able to catch some of it here, as these Horrific Recaps come to you weekly. Now take a step outside, let out a scream, and keep those neighbors wondering about you.
