MUSIC: Lana Del Rey's Cover of 'Season of the Witch' Is Perfect Fit For 'Scary Stories'

A short clip has released on the CBS Films YouTube channel and it features a somber and beautiful cover of Donovan's "Season of the Witch" by Lana Del Rey.

With clips frightening enough to make even the bravest of adults jump, the short YouTube video is hauntingly beautiful as Rey's vocals accompany scares and glimpses of story.

“I have admired Lana’s music for a while now and felt in my gut that she would run with ‘Season of the Witch’ – that she would use her alchemy to transform it.” Guillermo del Toro, producer of the film, could not be more right about Rey's ability to transform a song. Rey's cover next to the vintage Donovan original, sound like two different songs that happen to share the same lyrics.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, directed by André Øvredal and produced by del Toro will release later this week August 9. In the meantime, check out both versions of 'Season of the Witch'. No need to choose sides. Enjoy them both because each song can lead you down a different path of music.
