Announced back in the summer of 2019, an idea to reboot the Resident Evil movie was being kicked around and now the film is in full production. Writer and director of the upcoming reboot, Johannes Roberts, will team with Constantin Films, the production company behind the last series of Resident Evil films starring Milla Jovovich, to bring about the new adaptation of the first two games, taking us back to year 1998 when it all started.

Earlier this year it was rumored that Kaya Scodelario and Hannah John-Kamen were being looked at for possible roles in the new movie and today the rumors have been confirmed. Kaya Scodelario will portray Claire Redfield in the upcoming film, alongside Hannah John-Kamen who will step into the role of Jill Valentine. Tom Hopper of Umbrella Academy fame will star as Albert Wesker, alongside Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield and Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy. Neal McDonough rounds out the cast playing Umbrella virus researcher, William Birkin.
This film will join many other works coming out of the Resident Evil franchise including a Netflix series and a new game, Resident Evil: Village, that is scheduled for release next year.
