Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Chad Villella are Radio Silence, the production company behind the V/H/S franchise, and the more recent Scream film. The team have now set their sights on Escape From New York, the 1981 sci-fi action feature film from director John Carpenter, in the hopes of bringing about another chapter in the film's two movie story so far.
Leigh Whannell will direct the reboot which has no script yet, a search being currently underway for a writer. The Picture Company will produce along with John Carpenter, who will serve as the film's executive producer. My fingers are crossed too, in the hopes that the Halloween director will take control of the reboot's music, as well.
Back in the summer of 1981, Kurt Russell solidified his name as a total badass when he brought the character of Snake Plissken to movie audiences across the nation. Making over $25 million at the box office, and getting mostly favorable reviews, Escape From New York would go on to become a classic of sorts over the decades.
