Cineverse will handle the North American distribution rights for Ryan Kruger's latest film, a reboot of the 1987 horror comedy, Street Trash, taking the story from the streets of Brooklyn, to Kruger's native Cape Town, South Africa.
“Our reimagining of Street Trash takes place in Cape Town, South Africa where the growing divide between rich and poor has changed the world as we know it,” said the film's director in a statement. “I was a huge fan of the original Street Trash when I was a kid, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to introduce a whole new generation to the melted gonzo goodness that made the original such a classic.”
Street Trash will follow a group of homeless misfits who uncover a plot to exterminate the homeless, all while trying to stay alive in this new reimagining of the 1987 film, which according to Ryan Kruger, "(is) packed with vibrant characters and multi-colored explosions of gooey greatness.”
Being a big fan of Fried Barry, I eagerly await any and all news from Street Trash, another Ryan Kruger Thing, set to release next year on SCREAMBOX.
