No longer is there a push for Halloween to fall on the last Saturday of October, there is now a push to create a new day called National Trick or Treat Day.

The jaws of dentists and doctors all around the nation just hit the floor, I'm sure, at the mention of a second day that will allow kids to fill up on candy. The Halloween & Costume Association's first petition would have changed Halloween to the last Saturday of October. It picked up some steam and found more than 120,000 signatures but it seems that The Halloween & Costume Association have changed the petition due to feedback they have received.
“Halloween in the U.S. has the power to unite rather than divide. So, while we still believe an end-of-October Saturday celebration will promote safety and increase the fun, this year we will be launching a national initiative designed to enhance the Halloween that we all know and love while uniting our country,” says Chairman Kevin Johnson for The Halloween & Costume Association. If passed, National Trick or Treat Day would be held on the last Saturday of October as a safer time for children and adults alike to enjoy their spooky festivities.
